How Much Does It Cost to Get an Insurance License in Oklahoma?

September 10, 2026 · PassReadyPro Team

Beyond a pre-licensing course, getting an Oklahoma insurance license comes with a small, fixed set of state and vendor fees. Here's what actually goes into the total, assuming you pass your exam on the first try.

Quick answer: Plan on roughly $98 in state and exam fees for a producer license (Life & Health, Property & Casualty, or Life Only), or roughly $80–$100 for an adjuster license — on top of whatever you spend on a pre-licensing course.

The exam fee (paid to PSI)

Oklahoma's insurance exams are administered by PSI, not the state. As of this writing:

  • Producer lines (Life & Health, Property & Casualty, Life Only): $38 per attempt.
  • Adjuster (Property & Casualty and most other lines): $20 per attempt.

You pay this fee every time you sit the exam, pass or fail — see PSI's Oklahoma Insurance page for the current amount before you register.

The license application fee (paid through NIPR)

Once you pass, you apply for the actual license:

  • Producer license application: $60.
  • Adjuster license application: $30 for one line of authority, $50 for two or more.

These figures come from NIPR's Oklahoma fee schedule.

Fingerprinting

Oklahoma doesn't currently require a separate fingerprint-based background check fee for most resident producer or adjuster applications — you'll upload identifying documents through NIPR's portal instead. (This is different from Texas, which requires a paid fingerprint check before the exam.) Confirm current requirements on the OID's licensing page since background-check rules can change.

Putting it all together

License typeExam feeApplication feeTotal
Producer (per line)$38$60~$98
Adjuster (1 line)$20$30~$50
Adjuster (2+ lines)$20$50~$70

Add whatever you spend on a pre-licensing course on top of these numbers — course pricing varies widely, so compare what's actually included (practice exams, a pass guarantee, how long you keep access) rather than just the sticker price. Our Oklahoma courses are a flat rate per license line with unlimited timed practice exams and a Pass Guarantee.

These are the fees as published by PSI, NIPR, and the OID at the time of writing — state and vendor fees change periodically, so verify the current amount before you pay.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to pay the exam fee again if I fail?+

Yes — every attempt costs the full exam fee, whether you pass or fail.

Does the pre-licensing course cost count toward the state total?+

No — course pricing is separate from state and exam fees, and varies by provider. The figures above are only what you pay to PSI and through NIPR/OID.

Is there a cheaper way to get licensed in more than one line?+

For adjusters, yes — a single application covering two or more lines of authority costs $50 total instead of $30 per line separately. Producer lines don't currently offer that same multi-line discount on the application fee.
